Our Founding Story

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. In August of 2021 after 32 years of faithful service, my husband’s tenure as senior pastor of a Charlotte congregation ended in his medical retirement. Once a dynamic preacher, charismatic pulpiteer, gifted vocalist and creative teacher, he had led the church in growth numerically (from less than 50 members to over 1200), financially to be debt-free and spiritually. However, his body betrayed him following two life events. Although he had been a well-respected servant leader to the congregation and community, had a Pastor’s heart of love for people and was known as a man of strong character, humility and integrity, the compassion of Christ was now absent from his experience with the congregation. At a time when my husband needed them most, people who for years felt like family stood against him and many with blatant, unapologetic disrespect. It was a hurtful time for our entire family and wounded us deeply.

In the aftermath, I followed the leading of the Holy Spirit to be still through these trust-God moments. As I cared for my husband and our family, I sought the Lord for direction through meditating in His Word, prayer, devotion and worship. Powerful songs blessed my heart and soothed the pain. Then one morning, I clearly heard the voice of the Lord say that my passion for women’s ministry was not yet over; that He still had work for me to do. I continued to listen and seek confirmation. I eventually approached my husband about starting a virtual women’s ministry. His response was quick and clear. He said that he wondered how long I would be on the sidelines before the Lord showed me His next plans. With his full support, I began praying specifically for the framing of the new ministry. First the Lord spoke the name to me….one that He had given me three years before for use under the umbrella of our ministry to women. Now it would be a quiet linkage to the work God birthed and manifested through me for 20 years.

Almost daily, mostly in the wee hours of the morning, the Lord continued to reveal His direction. The Core Team for this non-profit entity was solidified as each member anxiously and humbly rejoiced to accept an invitation to put her hands forward in laying the foundation of the new ministry. We met, prayed, and fasted and the Lord filled in the blanks. On Saturday, December 11, 2021, the Pearls of Power Women’s Ministry, Inc. was announced during our inaugural women’s event. And so our journey in this new work started….slowly and intentionally as with the formation of a pearl. The Lord continues to establish a sure foundation for the many years to come.

To God be ALL the honor and glory!
